License and Certification Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required.Experience Qualifications: Five years of successful teaching experience required. Experience providing pupil services in a multilingual community context preferred. Preferred experience includes, local school administrative experience, experience supporting program compliance and experience in the design and delivery of professional development.Skills Qualifications: Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects concurrently; high degree of skill in organization and problem-solving; ability to organize pupil services; strong technology skills, including the use of databases; ability to work well with a team and with colleagues, including school-based and district-level personnel; strong interpersonal communication skills, including strong intercultural competence; excellent writing skills; ability to develop and implement professional learning programs; ability to analyze existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and design and implement process improvement initiatives; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). Proficiency in a language other than English preferred.Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate the processes for continuously improving the operations of the International Newcomer Center (INC) and student support services provided to middle and high school multilingual learners in all schools.1. Maintain and improve the efficiency and efficacy of the INC processes around interpretation/translation and intake services with a focus on students, family, and school support.a. Coordinate the operational processes and activities of the INC.b. Implement continuous quality improvement strategies to improve services to and outcomes for multilingual learners and their families.c. Ensure that work is aligned to the vision and mission of the district and that schools and district office staff consistently receive quality customer service and technical assistance.d. Coordinate and train employees in new technologies to enhance data analysis, communications, collaboration, and other essential program functions.e. Support with the intake of international students as needed.2. Coordinate professional learning and training around INC core services for school leaders, teachers, counselors, school staff and others.a. Develop and maintain positive relationships with school leaders and actively communicate with school leaders regarding new international students.b. Guide school leaders in developing positive means of receiving and integrating new international students and their families into their school communities.c. Guide school leaders in employing best practices in communicating with Limited English Proficient parents and guardians.d. Advise school leaders as needed to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures.3. Collaborate with the International Newcomer Director to monitor and analyze INC data.4. Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures.5. Maintain professional currency and knowledge of best practices, trends and issues, and guidance regarding multilingual learners.6. Manage the International Student Advisor Team7. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time.
