Job description
Freeport Transportation LLC is seeking a dedicated and experienced mobile diesel mechanic to join our team. As a mobile Diesel Mechanic, you will maintain diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements. You will also correct vehicle deficiencies, adjust and alignments, and keep complete and accurate records of repairs and maintenance procedures. A CDL Class A driver is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance on trucks such as checking batteries and changing oil to ensure proper vehicle running and FMCSA compliance.
Inspect various parts of trucks & chassis, including brake systems, wheel bearings and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively.
Use different tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, screwdrivers, hoists, and jacks, to repair trucks while taking all necessary safety precautions.
Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing to determine how to address problems.
Replace parts, valves, bearings, and gears as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems.
Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of maintenance regulations and transportation safety practices.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, requiring minimal supervision.
Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly.
Must be comfortable working in awkward positions or cramped spaces

The expected salary base payment offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made case-by-case. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
