Summary: High Priority Plumbing and Services, Inc., provides primarily residential and some commercial plumbing services for our customers. Our plumbers install, repair and maintain a variety of plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances. Employees in this position must be able to communicate effectively with customers and with our dispatch and billing teams to provide cost estimates and outstanding customer service.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Occasionally supervise, direct and teach the Plumber Apprentice/Helper on job sites
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide cost estimates.
Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, water softeners, appliances such as dishwashers or water heaters, or fixtures such as sinks or toilets, using hand or power tools.
Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage hoes for pipes in walls and floors.
Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand or power tools.
Cut and thread pipes.
Bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as vitrified clay and plastic.
Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
Join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulk joints.
Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and read pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
Perform preventative maintenance tasking as assigned.
Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
Maintain, organize, control, and inventory supplies, tools and equipment.
Clean and organize shop area. Maintain inventory of spare parts and material. Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance work. Perform other routine duties.
Direct helpers engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components.
Install underground sanitary or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.
Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports.
Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, or clearing clogged drains.
Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers or levels.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of residential and commercial plumbing code
Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot plumbing problems with minimal supervision
Strong verbal and written communication
Excellent customer service skills
Required Education and Experience:
1 or more years plumbing experience required
Preferred Education and Experience:
Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Compensation: $15.00 to $25.00 hourly, dependent upon experience

Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity Requirements: The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
Working Conditions: The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions. No effective protection from the weather. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. The worker is frequently in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, man holes, small enclosed rooms, small sewage and line pipes, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia. The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Full Time. Daily schedules begin at 8am and end at 5pm, but evening and weekend hours are to be expected occasionally. Overtime is common for plumbers.
All plumbers are in an on-call rotation for evenings and weekends (typically every 5th week).
Travel: Due to the nature of the plumbing industry and this position, daily local travel is required. Overnight travel is not to be expected. Plumbers are provided a company vehicle which can be driven home each day, for which insurance, routine maintenance and gas expense are paid by the company.
