Blue Orb Tours is looking for a fill in tour guide to conduct walking ghost tours in Savannah's Historic District. Blue Orb has been in business for over 14 years and has been featured on SYFY, PBS, The Travel Channel, and numerous other major outlets. We are a tight knit company and are looking for someone to add to our ranks.
Job Description-
The person we are looking for is, ideally, an experienced tour guide. We do train people interested in being a tour guide if they have other relevant qualifications or hospitality/tourism experience.
The number of tours per week varies by season/time of year and this is primarily a fill in position for overflow and relieving our other guides. We can work together on giving you the amount of work you want.
Tour Guides for Blue Orb Tours tell the haunted, historical, and paranormal history of Savannah, Georgia to as many as 30 guests at a time over a 1.5-2 hour tour (Depending on guide preference).
The tours (depending on time of year and guide availability) start at 7:45 pm- 10:00 pm. The tour routes are approximately a mile long and include stops for photo opportunities in addition to stories.
This is a fill-in guide position so the evenings we need coverage will vary by time of year, but would typically be Wednesday-Sunday and holidays. The Tour Guide will need to give us their availability at the beginning of each month and which tours they would like to work.
This is a 1099 Contractor Position so the right person needs to be familiar with, and have experience doing 1099 contractor work.
Compensation- $50 per tour during training, regular tour compensation after training depends on experience and performance, plus tips. We also offer performance bonuses. We actively encourage patrons to give gratuities to tour guides who give a great tour. The minimum compensation per tour after training is $70.
Other Qualifications-
Be an amazing storyteller.
Be able to still be an amazing storyteller while being a crowd manager to groups up to 30 in size.
When you give us your avalability at the beginning of the month be sure you can/will be there to fulfill the dates you gave us.
We are super focused on guest satisfaction, you should be as well.
Besides great storytelling, the tour as a whole should be a great experience. The Tour Guide makes or breaks a tour experience. The tours you give have to be great. We base that on guest feedback and reviews.
