Sr Database Administrator- Oracle Remote Eligible in GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:Multiple flexible hybrid work schedules available - Understanding and experience supporting Oracle Cloud @ Customer Exadata environment providing standard operational care and support as well as best practices associated with the Exadata platform.
- Migration of data from older Oracle database version to 19c.
- Apply database patches and perform upgrades.
- Proficient with PL/SQL and various Unix shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Oracle enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Experience supporting non-relational or no-sql databases.
- Storage/Backup domain expertise
Education and Experience RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or relevant curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. A Masters degree may be used to offset one year of experience; PhD may offset two years of experience. 7 years IT experience with four (4) as a database developer.Position Purpose:Designs, develops, tests and implements secure, scalable, reliable and maintainable databases for application software. Assists development staff to ensure application data integrity.Job DescriptionPrinciple Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions: Install and configure database software . Design and implement data models . Perform test data creation from scripts or by scrubbing production data . Designs and implements application data security model . Assist application developers with query creation and tuning . Evaluate database requirements of COTS packages . Apply database patches and perform upgrades . Support application development . Assist with issue identification and resolution . Participate in 24x7 on call support rotation .Additional Functions: Proactively identifies opportunities to improve application performance. . Proactively identifies opportunities to improve existing methodologies, processes or other areas of application delivery performance. . Proactively communicates issues and status as required. .Perform other duties as assigned.Other Requirements: Knowledge of IT applications to include experience with software development methodologies, the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and best practices. Experience working in teams. Proficiency with PL/SQL and/or T-SQL. Experience with object relational mapping technologies (Java Persistence, .NET Persistence, Hibernate, etc.). Proficiency with shell scripting (Unix, PowerShell). Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and/or SQL Management Studio. Proficiency with MS Office.
