JOB PURPOSE:Coordinates the management of nutrition services for the Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Hospice and Homecare. Assures that the consulting dietitians are providing adequate, appropriate nutrition services in accordance with clinical national standards of practice and dietary management expertise in facilities to promote excellent food service, in sanitary and healthful environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge to successfully evaluate and apply the principles of nutritional standards to resident and facility situations to assure dieta1y services meet standards of care and quality.

Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations, including relevant sanitation and safety codes LTC

Able to evaluate and direct dietary services activities including but not limited to food handling, preparation, service and delivery.

Assures that the facilities have a consultant that is able to provide professional nutrition consultation in accordance with state and federal regulations and nutrition standards of care and practice.

Makes sure that at least quarterly all aspects of dietary services evaluated to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Pruitt Corporations policies and procedures.

Responsible that each facility receives timely and appropriate documentation is provided for medical nutrition therapy on new admissions and residents at nutritional risk according to national standards of practice.

Assist the Consulting Dietitian to acts as an advisor to the dietary manager in development of staff training as well as providing in-service training for the dietary department and nursing staff.

Assures that the administrator and corporate staff receive the consultant reports containing all activities performed during consultation.

Works with the contracting department on all food, nutrition, and vending and equipment contracts as needed. Attends meetings to keep up-dated on the GPO contracts as needed.

Coordinates, updates, and reviews all Menus and Food, Supply and Supplement order guides.

Recommends kitchens and other food service equipment needs for all centers.

Diet consultation with PruittHealth-Hospice on a regular basis.

Works with all other branches of the PruittHealth Corporation as needed.

Maintain continuing education in the nutrition profession.

Exercises discretion and good judgment in interpersonal relationships with staff, residents, family members and peers in the organization.

Manages and directs special projects as required.

Keeps supervisor informed of daily activities and issues as needed.

Able to have effectively communicate (both written and orally) with physicians, staff, residents and families, consultants, and corporate staff in respect to all phases of dietary services.

Leadership skills are needed to assure, guide, and facilitate the consultants in their daily duties, problems and situations.

Be able to make quick logical decisions that will benefit the resident, staff and facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledge and able to follow ethical standards of the professing in honesty, loyalty, integrity and respect for others.

Working knowledge and ability to comply with facility policies and procedures for workplace safety including infection control procedures and application of universal precautions.

Able to multitask be able to be working on several projects at a time and still respond to the needs of consultants, facilities, peers and corporate staff.

Strong organization and planning skills

Able to have effectively communicate (both written and orally) with physicians, staff, residents and families, consultants, and corporate staff in respect to all phases of dietary services.
