The stunning Florida gulf shores and Blue Ridge Mountains are only a few hours' drive.Link: https://martin.tricare.mil/ResponsibilitiesAs a Clinical/Perioperative Nurse you will:Responsible for patient care activities - Determines the patient's physical condition from nursingassessment, documented medical evidence and available supplemental information (usually viareport from anesthesia personnel and other members of the perioperative multidisciplinary team).Individualizes each patient's treatment, reflecting developmental needs. Interprets each patient'sself-report or behavior with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional andchronological maturation process. Demonstrates age-specific skills JAW competency-basedorientation guidelines. Makes appropriate nursing judgments and implements plan of care IAW thestandards of care and nursing practice.Observes patients for adverse conditions and reactions. In the absence of surgeons or anesthesiapersonnel, independently initiates appropriate emergency measures in life-threatening or limb-saving situations. Such measures include, but are not limited to: cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR), the calculation and administration of emergency medications, and other measures asindicated IAW Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) algorithms. Performs a variety of patient careprocedures, to include, but not limited to: administration of oxygen, IV fluids, blood products, andprescribed medications; sets up, operates and monitors specialized equipment such as cardiacmonitors, defibrillators, pulse oximeters, suction, etc. Prepares and documents medical record andany associated records and reports IAW hospital and departmental policy.Teaches patients and significant others regarding surgical procedures and regimens. Documentspatient education results IAW the nursing process. Conducts two formal in-services within theirrating period and periodical informal in services as needed to address the changing standards andguidelines of the individual unit. Maintain current training on all unit equipment, competency-basedorientation and cross-training activities.When functioning as the charge nurse they will supervise and lead other professional andparaprofessional nursing personnel in the care of patients in all age groups. Monitor and overseestaff performance. Verify and annotate all physician orders as needed. Communicate significantchanges in the patient's condition to the surgeon or anesthesia personnel in a timely manner.Provide complete report on all patients within their individual unit using the BSTAR hand offcommunication tool.Performs Charge Duties - Makes nursing care assignments to various skill levels of professionaland ancillary health care personnel. Assigns staff to patient care duties based on patientcondition/status, expertise and scope of practice. Monitors and oversees staff performance toassure work is accomplished timely. Ensures staff makes legible, accurate, complete, and timelydocumentation electronically in the patient chart. Evaluates performance of staff for the clinical areaand assures Joint Commission standards are met.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsUS Citizenship requiredA graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
