This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The position is located at the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Fleet Management Expansion, Fort Moore, GA. Responsibilities Perform complete services on a wide variety of heavy mobile equipment. Complete preventive maintenance and work order services such as selecting proper oils or lubricants, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, and cleaning battery boxes. Drain and change oil and lubricants in accordance with technical manuals. Remove, replace power packs, final drives, and road wheel arms as required. Perform annual, bi-annual, and semi-annual services in accordance with technical manual requirements. Perform preventative maintenance on field service vehicles and equipment. Prepare oil samples for shipment. May road test vehicles to determine serviceability. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Mobile Equipment Servicer (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common tasks including servicing a wide variety of heavy mobile equipment. Perform simple maintenance tasks such as selecting proper oils, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, and/or cleaning battery boxes. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Works in awkward positions under and on top of vehicles. Frequently required to bend, climb or reach in cramped and tight spaces. Frequently works on top of equipment at heights of up to 18 feet above ground. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds such as cans, drums, and petroleum products. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or lifting equipment. Working Conditions: Work is performed either inside or outside. When working inside there is frequent exposure to drafts, dirt, fumes, dust, loud noises, oil and grease. Often subject to cuts, bruises, and burns. Occasionally exposed to changing temperatures, inclement weather, and cold or damp conditions when working inside. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
