We provide a supportive environment for learning and growth, excellent pay and benefits, and a culture that is built on the highest standards of customer service.JOB SUMMARYThe Tool Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing various small tools used by generating plants and power delivery headquarters. The technician in this position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and performing preventative maintenance on a wide variety of battery-operated, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools, also to include small engines, and test equipment. Other duties include data entry, inventory management, and basic computer skills. This position is located at the Central Tool Shop facility in Forest Park, GA. However, on occasion, you will be expected to travel to other work locations to repair tools on-site.Candidates must be able to support a 24/7 work schedule including holidays and overtime when necessary. Must be willing to work various shifts as needed, but generally days. Subject to callout overtime situations.The starting salary will be based upon the conditions of the Memorandum of Agreement Wage Schedule between Georgia Power and IBEW Local Union Number 84.JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation:Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

To be considered for an interview, candidates must qualify for the Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST).

Two-year technical degree or certificate.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic knowledge and use of hand and power tool operation required.

Basic computer skills required.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications.

Use computer program to track time, parts, and repair details.

Must be able to troubleshoot simple electronic and mechanical systems.

Customer service experience preferred.

Must have good problem solving and analytical skills.

Must be able to walk on grading and have finger dexterity.

Repair and test hydraulic crimpers, cutters, pumps, intensifiers, drills, chainsaws etc.

Repair and test battery and electrical power tools such as drills, saws, and service savers.

Interpret logic diagrams and tool schematics.

Perform repair and maintenance on 2 Cycle and 4 Cycle small engines.

Candidate must be willing to maintain regular attendance.

Candidate must be available to work outside normal operating hours which could include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Must be available to respond to any emergency callout.

Must have strong interpersonal skills, proven written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

The candidate must be a team player, customer oriented, trainable, and willing to develop their career.

Must understand the value of customer service and support.

Other Requirements:

This is an IBEW covered position.

Valid driver's license is required and pass company driving tests.

Must successfully pass the CAST test.

Must be able to get badge access at nuclear plants.

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).

Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.

Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
