Job Summary: The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent is responsible for leading the Electrical & Instrumentation function to improve plant productivity, reliability and efficiency by contributing to the design, construction, commissioning and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems and machines of the mill. The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent is responsible for leading the daily activities for a team of technicians in the areas of safety, quality and maintenance for all equipment. Lead the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technicians in troubleshooting E&I problems
Execute industrial electrical plant maintenance including preventative maintenance tasks and troubleshooting plant electrical equipment
Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times and drive a safety awareness culture as a top priority
Adhere to all mill safety rules, participate in and/or lead safety programs and meetings with the goal of improving safety at the mill and support the mill behavior-based safety program (MOSSIE)
Ensure that the mechanics in his/her area are using the proper parts and equipment to complete all maintenance work appropriately for their safety and others in the work area
Provide ongoing technical expertise and work closely with E&I Technicians to proactively manage and improve E&I equipment availability and reliability
Utilize PLC (Programmer Logically Controlling) and DMS (Distributed Control System) to review electrical and instrumentation system controls and identify and troubleshoot equipment failures
Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure operational efficiencies of the mill are constantly improved through updated preventive techniques to reduce unscheduled downtime
People and Culture
Supervise and lead the maintenance employees by assigning daily work schedules to increase equipment availability
Lead the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) mechanics in troubleshooting E&I problems
Train employees to perform their jobs safely without committing unsafe acts and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping
Partner with Engineering, Reliability, and Operations to understand their maintenance needs for daily work, down time/outages and provide adequate resources and supervision to meet those requirements
Enforce safe working environment by ensuring that mechanics conduct themselves in accordance with all corporate, division, and mill safety and environmental rules and procedures
Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of safety work practices; such as NFPA 70E, NEC
PLC and DCS background
Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) experience
Technical competence
Working knowledge data historian software (OSIsoft Pi)
Mechanical aptitude
Experience:
Required: Five plus years of experience as an electrical or mechanical craftsman
Preferred: Experience using Reliability tools such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Education:
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or equivalent years of experience
Plus:
Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S certifications
