We need YOU!Where the chemistry happens…The Research Technician will support the yield/phenotyping organization for the Dawson Cotton Breeding organization. The Technician will directly support Testing Manager and team to accomplish commercial variety advancement and development as it aligns with the business trait and germplasm priorities.The technician will help manage field activities, field data capture and field records. Knowledge of field agronomic practices and operation of field equipment such as: planters, sprayers, cultivators, and harvest equipment. Technician will also be involved in UAV data collection and transfer of data. Technician will support development and implementation of a yield testing program to capture environmental data, phenotype data and define experimental designs that support robust decisions, strengthen go to market message and inform breeding models.As a Field Research Technician II SE, You Create Chemistry By

Assisting Southeast testing organization to develop and select varieties that meet the business defined product profiles. Helping create a phenotyping and yield trial program that supports commercial decisions and delivers data to the SE breeder.

Being responsible to lead the yield trial ginning activities including supervising contingent staff involved in the activity. Supporting the site teams including farm and equipment operations, and contingent worker oversight. Aid in the selection, and training of contract labor.

Leading process improvements in the areas of responsible, that work to achieve more with less, or more in less time and generate optimum procedures/processes/actions that alter favorably team/business needs. Develop a culture of safe practices and full implementation of safety guidelines/training.

Achieving successful outcomes and timelines, while consistently following guidelines, rules, standards, and compliance. Monitor, track and maintain desired outcomes and objectives. Prepare for future challenges.

If you

Possess a bachelors in agriculture, scientific or related field or Associate with a minimum of 3 years experience or High School/GED with 5+ years of experience 

Possess relevant experience in crop yield trialing and crop management.

Have experience 1+ years in Seed Industry and cotton yield trialing. Having small plot research in relevant crop area and knowledge of production practices of cotton.

Are able to develop strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bartender, FieldPrime, iQarus. Experience working with database systems is a plus.

Posses a high degree of self-motivation and organizational skills, with a process driven mindset. Willing to challenge the status quo to spark improved strategies, methods, and practices that allows others to be efficient and productive in a fast-paced high-performing environment

Have drone pilots license or willingness to get a drone license immediately. As well as pesticide Applicator License (preferred)

Are able to work well independently and in large teams. Openness to giving and receiving feedback, perspectives, and ideas. Highly organized with strong record-keeping, technical writing and project management skills, committed to accuracy with excellent attention to detail

Have excellent communication skills, verbal and written; ability to productively interact with people at all levels across the organization. Sound and accurate judgment; accountable for decisions aligned with business strategy made within the scope of responsibility and focused on meeting established short-term goals and long-term objectives

Ability to travel up to 10% - domestic.
