Job Summary:As a Physician in an affiliated medical practice, provides medical services to patients in an assigned area.Job Description: MaineGeneral Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Bariatric Surgeon to join our esteemed General Surgery Department. This role presents a unique opportunity to specialize in bariatric surgery while also incorporating other aspects of general surgery into your practice.Key Responsibilities: Perform a wide range of modern bariatric surgery procedures. Utilize advanced laparoscopic equipment and, if desired, the Da Vinci robotic system. Engage in a multidisciplinary team approach, collaborating with dieticians, fitness trainers, surgeons, APPs, MAs, and RNs. Conduct surgeon-led seminars for patients, including presentations and Q&A sessions about bariatric surgery, patient journey, insurance education, and surgery risks. Provide ongoing patient education during individual surgeon, dietician, and fitness trainer visits. Build and maintain relationships with primary care providers and collaborate with other specialties to support patient health through weight loss. Share general surgery call pool responsibilities equally with six other general surgeons.Qualifications: Completed fellowship in Bariatric Surgery. Familiarity with all modern bariatric surgery procedures. Familiarity with the Da Vinci robotic system is desirable but not required. Commitment to a multidisciplinary team approach and patient education. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with primary care referents and other specialties.Schedule: Full-time position with an expectation of 36 clinical hours and 4 administrative hours per week.
