The Board is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented candidate to help fulfill its mission. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service and demonstrated success working within a high-performance and dedicated team of professionals.Primary responsibilities include:

Assumes the Executive Director's duties during the Director's absence to provide continuity of operations.

Oversees the process of approving applications for licensure and re-licensure of allopathic physicians and physician assistants, requiring knowledge of the qualifications for the various types of licenses available (e.g. permanent, temporary, emergency, camp, IMLCC).

In consultation with the Executive Director, policy and process decisions regarding the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC), which directly affect Board implementation of the IMLC.

Determines specific issues related to licensing applications to be addressed by the board.

Oversees the licensure program in the board office and provides direction to professional and support staff.

Researches and develops recommendations to update and improve the board's licensure program continually.

Annually addresses graduates of the UNE Physician Assistant Program and assists the Executive Director in developing testimony for legislative and regulatory hearings regarding proposed legislation that might impact the board.

Supervises and directs office staff to ensure work is accomplished in a timely and effective manner.

Reviewing and planning budgetary matters, including reviewing and approving the biennial budget and annual work programs, preparing service contracts, approving invoices for payment, and depositing payments received.

Implements and complies with human resource laws, policies, procedures, and practices such as: AA/EEO, recruitment, employment, position classification, performance appraisals, training, discipline, contract administration, human resource components of security protocols of agency information security, and confidentiality policies, and employee safety.

Skills or knowledge required:

Applicable agency laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Knowledge of interviewing techniques.

Knowledge of available assistance agencies.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to write clearly and effectively.

Ability to accomplish tasks effectively and efficiently.

Minimum qualifications:A Bachelors Degree in Hospital Management, Health Care Administration, Public Administration or related field and four (4) years management experience at the Assistant/Associate Executive Director, Administrator, or Department Head level or equivalent.
