- Responsible for testing, certifying, and coordinating deployment of all platforms firmware and OS patches across the Enterprise.
- Track and document SLA performance and provide reporting to Supply Chain for use during recurring support discussions and negotiations.
- Serve as the Engineering liaison responsible for coordinating all audio/video alerting and reporting into the Service Assurance Organization.
- Responsible for supporting multiple automation initiatives by driving vendors towards better interoperability options and enabling access to monitoring platform data.
- Current Cox a/v monitoring and analyzer platforms include: Telestream/IneoQuest Surveyor, Inspector, Cricket, iVMS, cVOC, cPAR - Telestream/Tektronix Sentry, Medius, Aurora, MTS Analyzers, MediaInfo - Triveni Analyzers - Sencore Analyzers, DekTec probes - Dolby Loudness Monitors - Nielsen NACAT - Witbe QOE Robots - Multiple custom systems and dashboards.
- Provide comparisons of available industry video monitoring products and technologies to include developing reference designs and documentation for configuration and operation of all monitoring systems including audio/video probes, transport monitors, audio/video analyzers, and associated EMS and NMS components.
- Work with vendors, Cox Center, and Cox Field personnel to ensure standardization and adherence to best-practice configurations.
- Serve as the primary interface between Video Engineering and the Service Assurance Organizations.
- Alternative and emerging video monitoring technologies will be analyzed for their viability for Coxs expansion into new means of media distribution, including HTTP Live Streaming, DASH-TS, DASH-BMFF, and other single and multi-bitrate technologies.
- 8+ years industry related experience required.
- strong understanding digital audio/video fundamentals, compression technologies, distribution formats, and associated technologies such as Multicast and Unicast video distribution, MPEG Video (2,4, & HEVC), MPEG-2 TS, HDR, SCTE-35 & ESNI signaling, closed-captions, QAM video distribution, and ad-splicing.
- Analyze audio and video quality and the artifacts inherent in different implementations of compression and distribution technologies, with an understanding of these systems and the technologies they represent.
- Strong understanding of Digital Audio/Video and the technologies used in their construct and transport, including AAC, AC-3, EAC-3, ATMOS, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, HEVC, and adaptive bitrate technologies, is required.
- Experience with digital audio/video compression system implementations and their management systems
- Demonstrated understanding of audio/video compression, transport, and distribution systems
- Advanced aptitude for assessing video quality
- Strong communications (oral and written) skills
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science
- MSO experience a plus. Internet Service Provider and DOCSIS knowledge
