ALTERNATIVE RENTALS is a premiere digital camera rental house that supplies digital cinema video cameras & equipment to feature films, episodic television series and commercial productions across the nation. With offices in both Los Angeles and Atlanta, we are committed to providing our clients a 5-star experience.

We are looking for a Camera Prep Technician/ Quality Control Tech in our Atlanta branch. This position requires someone who has multiple years of experience working at a camera rental house servicing cameras by Arriflex, Sony, Red, Canon, and others. Must also have experience servicing camera-related accessories, including heads, monitors, lenses, wireless video, making cables, etc. Must have experience managing staff. Must be a problem solver able to diagnose and troubleshoot technical questions from clients.

The pay will be determined based on your experience. This is not an entry-level position, so please apply only if you have a minimum of several years of experience working as a technician or tech manager in a camera rental company. The more years of experience, the better.

Responsibilities and Duties

Help Service Arriflex, Sony, Red, Canon, and other cameras.

Fixing and Maintaining Wireless Video, Wireless Focus, and other wireless products.

Clean, Repair, and QC cinema support and accessories.

Soldering cables for cameras and accessories as needed.

Making cables for equipment as necessary.

Maintain equipment kits with all additional cables and accessories.

Periodically travel to other branches and locations to help with Preps or training as needed.

Train and teach less experienced members of staff when needed.

Working with other department leads to plan out how best to allocate staff and to prepare for each day.

Must ensure equipment is ready, complete and up to QC standards for client preps.

Able to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments.

Must be computer literate, working knowledge of Filemaker is a plus.

Applicants must also have the instinct to multitask and manage their time efficiently, as the day's agenda can fluctuate from servicing camera equipment to troubleshooting. Heavy lifting of equipment cases is also a large part of the job. Candidates must have the physical strength and stamina needed. The position demands a confident individual who can execute any task that is given.

Individuals must have a STRONG work ethic, and be able to handle daily matters with a sense of urgency. Someone who can adapt and proactively learn new camera systems and accessories, retain that information, and apply it in multiple scenarios. The quality and maintenance of our extensive inventory are of our highest priorities and we seek an individual who strives for excellence to execute each task by giving it nothing short of the best.

Applicants will work a daily 8-hour schedule, with an unpaid hour lunch break in between. Overtime will be expected on busier days. Weekends will be required when necessary for client pickups, preps, or drop-offs, and applicants need to be available on those scheduled days which will be alternated between themselves and other full-time employees.

Salary is negotiable and based on experience.

Benefits include health, dental and vision, plus vacation and holiday pay. 401k with employer matching is available after a 60-day trial period.
