Our family is immediately seeking a responsible and reliable part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) for 20-25 hours per week. The DSP will provide one-on-one support for a mobile 20-year-old male with epilepsy (seizures). Responsibilities include assisting with daily living tasks such as personal care (e.g., bathroom, showering), meal prep and feeding, medication administration, and working collaboratively within a team. Maintaining dignity and respect throughout all care and support is paramount.
The job also involves supporting the client’s social and recreational activities in the community. The schedule comprises preparing the client for high school from 6-8 a.m. and receiving him from the bus after school at 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekends will be required. Successful candidates will be compensated during the training period. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CNA and First Aid certifications, and at least two years of disability caregiving experience.
Candidates must have their own reliable transportation (no drop-offs and pick-ups) and possess clean criminal and driving records. Commitment to current COVID-19 and flu vaccinations is required. This position includes comprehensive paid training.
