It advances strategic goals for growth, productivity, and operational excellence throughout our transload network, with a particular focus on the management of 36+ TBT (Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer) facilities.Principle Duties:
Oversees team development, productivity, performance,and safety as the manager ofFirst & Final Mile Markets’ Terminal Operations staff.
Participates with NS Rail Integrated Solutions and Industrial Products Marketing to establish and implement growth strategies across Norfolk Southern’s network of TBT facilities.
Ensures performance requirements are met or exceeded at each transload site and that terminal operations are managed safely and efficiently in accordance with relevant tariffs, contracts, and operating instructions.
Evaluates and selects TBT operating partners aligned with NS on enhancing operational safety, improving customer service and relationships, and promoting carload growth.
Collaborates with NS Industrial Products Marketing, Field Sales, Environmental, and Law, as well as TBT operators and transload partners, to identify opportunities to grow NS revenue, improve asset utilization, and ensure a competitive position in the marketplace.
Manages terminal capacity, railcar dwell, and the allocation of track space, as well as ground and warehouse storage, amongst TBT customers.
Negotiates and enforces operating agreements with TBT operators, as well as terminal access agreements with motor carriers and self-loaders.
Develops and manages a $20M+ expense budget, inclusive of contractor compensation and terminal operating expenses related to utility consumption, equipment and site maintenance.
Develops business cases for the strategic deployment of capital for TBT infrastructure and equipment, in collaboration with stakeholders in Marketing, Design & Construction, Finance, and Sourcing.
Resolves complex issues by leading terminal stakeholders in the development and implementation of data-driven solutions.
Oversees reporting of TBT performance, expenses, terminal revenues, business and service trends, and growth opportunities.
Fosters productive relationships with transload partners, supply chain managers, freight brokers, rail shippers, and other influencers of flexible freight, as well as peers at other railroads.
