The Court Researcher will contact courts in person, by phone, or online and utilize other data sources in order to conduct the assigned employment background screening request. This includes but is not limited to criminal/civil and other forms of record checks as part of an employment background screening report. The Court Researcher will ensure complete, accurate and up-to-date information is obtained and reported within required guidelines and deadlines.RESPONSIBILITIES

Contact courts daily to retrieve case information including, but not limited to electronic or paper files

Effectively communicates with court clerk staff to obtain necessary information to ensure court records reported are complete and accurate.

Reviews and analyzes criminal court data and key identifiers in addition to inputting into the background screening report according to FCRA reporting guidelines.

Pro-actively keep supervisor informed of any issues regarding access to court systems or records used to conduct research.

Provide timely follow-up and follow through in accordance to requests, reports and escalations while ensuring accurate and prompt turnaround time.

Provides status updates and estimated completion time of request.

Acts in an investigative manner to consistently locate the applicable source of information.

Maintains in-depth working knowledge of all current reporting guidelines.

Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Maintain a valid and clean driving record.

Travel:Up to 50% travel. May include overnight on all avenues of transportationQualificationsEducation/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

1 year of data entry experience

Skills/Abilities:

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines while being well organized.

Ability to research and verify information utilizing computer, internet, and telephone.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to interpret information received both verbally and in writing and input into software system.

Ability to review and understand detailed information.

Ability to work in a fast paced, but very structured and fact-driven environment/team.

Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.

Ability to perform job duties with minimal/moderate supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience:

1 year of experience conducting criminal or civil records research, or previous work in a court setting.

Education/Certification:

Associate or Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice or related field or applicable working experience in a related field preferred.

Familiarity with Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)

FCRA Criminal Records Researcher Certification

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge within the background screening industry (familiarity with reading court cases, terminology, court record filing, etc.)
