Watch our video (https://youtu.be/kEm9yge1fEE) to see our team build top-of-the-line excavators and tractors.While working at Caterpillar Inc. the successful candidate for this position will directly support Manufacturing Engineers and Operations Leaders on the Paint shop floor through design and documentation layout, tooling, handling systems, safety, and ergonomics and other duties as assigned. The job requires the candidate to be proactive in optimizing manufacturing processes and in the creation and ongoing maintenance of standard work. The successful candidate will be a champion of Caterpillar’s safety culture and use Lean principles to drive waste from manufacturing process.This is planned as a 1st-shift position but may require off-shift support as necessary.In this role you may be expected to:

Perform technical analysis of manufacturing processes to support management decisions.

Monitor and improve numerous design and process requirements to meet/exceed 1E spec and CAV requirements.

Assist paint engineering in the design, build, deployment and maintenance of all tooling and equipment necessary for powder-coating operations.

Assist in the creation and maintenance of routings and standard work instructions.

Improve material flow by optimizing equipment and work area layouts.

Perform quality checks on machines, parts, and tooling.

Validate process cycle times by conducting time studies.

Analyze and deploy engineering change notices.

Troubleshoot day-to-day process issues, develop solutions, and monitor improvements.

Respond to customer issues and lead process improvements.

Provide cross shift support as necessary to support production.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have intermediate proficiency (capable of functioning independently) in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Must have strong data collection and documentation skills.

Must have three years or greater of manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

Willing and able to sit/stand for prolonged period.

Willing and able to perform repetitive operations.

Willing and able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Top Candidates will Also Have:

2-year technical/engineering or equivalent degree (current enrollment in an accredited 4-year college degree program at a junior level status is considered equivalent to a 2-year degree) or 2 years of related experience in engineering or manufacturing support.

Experience with powder or liquid paint application.

Experience with ETQ system documentation.

Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills that allow independent troubleshooting of manufacturing issues.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience with lean manufacturing in an industrial setting.

Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience using 3D CAD software for equipment and tooling design (Solid Works or Creo).

Experience with 2D AutoCAD to modify plan layouts.

Experience writing standard work/process instructions.

Experience with conducting time studies.

Experience creating routings in ERP systems.

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
