Flagger Duties:
Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic safely around construction zones using stop/slow paddles, hand signals, and other standard devices.
Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs, cones, and barricades.
Communicate effectively with other flaggers and construction crews using two-way radios.
Monitor traffic conditions and make real-time adjustments to ensure safety and efficiency.
Enforce safety standards and report any violations or hazards to the site supervisor.
Spotter Duties:
Assist equipment operators (cranes, trucks, excavators, etc.) by providing clear guidance during vehicle movement in tight or congested areas.
Maintain constant visual and radio communication with drivers/operators.
Ensure worksite areas are clear of personnel or obstacles during machinery operations.
Signal operators using industry-standard hand and voice signals to guide maneuvering.
Prevent accidents by maintaining awareness of blind spots and potential safety hazards.
Qualifications:
Valid Flagger Certification (typically from ATSSA, NSC, or a state-approved program).
Proven experience in flagging or spotting (1+ years preferred).
Strong knowledge of traffic control and safety protocols.
Ability to stand for long periods and work in all weather conditions.
Excellent communication skills and situational awareness.
Ability to work in a team and follow directions precisely.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for signaling and observing equipment.
Compensation:
$14-$17/hour
