Makes monthly phone calls to clients with overdue breast pumps that are on loan.

Follows up on any unreturned pumps with calls to nearest relative, letters stating legal obligation of pump return to attempt to get property (pumps) back to WIC.

Ensures all staff receives 2 hours of annual staff training in breastfeeding continuing education.

Overseas the WIC Breastfeeding PC Coordinator and PC Program

Offers support and guidance to PC Coordinator

Acts as liaison between clinic staff and BPC staff.

Approve BPC timesheets

Assist with hiring PCs

Functions as a Certified Professional Authority (CPA) in Tavernier/Marathon clinic (3 days a week) to counsel WIC clients, determine eligibility by assessing nutrition status and providing appropriate nutrition education.

Certifies clients for participation in the WIC Program in accordance with policies of the state WIC Program and regulations as stated in DHM 150-24.

Completes Nutrition Assessments for all low, high, and medically high-risk WIC clients to provide client-centered nutrition service.

Ensures certified clients have the correct nutritional risk reason(s) assigned, assigns appropriate food packages, ensures accurate and complete health data information is entered in medical records, ensures nutrition questionnaire appropriately and completely entered and when required, develops a high-risk care plan within 45 days of certification.

Evaluates requests for Special Formula or Foods based on medical and nutritional need.

Provides Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA) based nutrition assessment and counseling utilizing appropriate educational materials including high-risk medical nutrition consultation, child and infant nutrition such as formula preparation, introduction to solids, age-appropriate foods and nutrition guidance for prenatal women, and postpartum women. Writes notes and care plans and provides follow-up.

Assesses clients’ readiness to change and helps client choose appropriate goal(s). Writes SMART goals.

Makes referrals for appropriate health and social services.

Establishes appropriate number of subsequent individual nutrition education contacts. Evaluates and revises nutrition care plan as needed.

Promotes breastfeeding by providing breastfeeding education and training to WIC participants on breastfeeding and breast pump use. Issues breast pumps to eligible clients and follows up. Refers clients to Breastfeeding Peer Counselor/Lactation Consultant.

Keeps inventory and requests orders for special formulas as needed for Tavernier and Marathon clinic site. Responsible for processing invoices for infant formula and WIC-eligible nutritional’s and comply with the mandatory requirements of Section 215.422, Florida Statutes and Chapter 69I-24, Florida Administrative Code.

Provides services to clients in an efficient manner so that clinic flow is smooth

Maintains required reports, prepares technical documents and written reports for the WIC program

Reviews and evaluates WIC CHD nutrition education practices for compliance through peer chart reviews.

Trains Health Support Specialist on Quarterly Nutrition Education Newsletter.

Attends meetings which relate to WIC operations and procedures. Attends Health Department meetings and Emergency Preparedness training. Attends in-service training, and other professional and staff development activities. Serves on task forces/advisory committees as needed.

Serves as Vendor Manager: This includes onsite reviews of all vendors annually, attending vendor manager conference calls, training vendors every 3 years, and following up on complaints regarding supply issues or other participant complaints regarding vendors or vendor complaints regarding WIC participants.Overseas voter registration activities, such as coordinating training, overseeing on-going voter registration activities, and maintaining a good working relationship with county supervisor of elections office.Completes and submits time in Employee Activity Record System (EARS), travel, timesheets, assignments and reports in accordance with established agency and division guidelines.
