job title: Pipe Layer
Responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems, ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes. Aligns pipes and seals joints together with cement or glue.
Show basic knowledge and safety, layout and pipe laying procedures.
Knowledge of pipe laying materials and basic underground evacuation safety procedures.
Ability to safely engage in pipe laying procedures and install pipe at proper elevation and ditch line finish grading.
Operating heavy equipment to dig trenches for laying piping. Also using heavy equipment to place sections of piping.
Ability to operate heavy equipment to remove and replace soils and earth.
Operate cutting equipment to cut various types of piping materials.
Cut, fit and seal various types of piping.
Ability to communicate effectively with crew members including the written and spoken word.
Ability to think logically about work at hand and compare site conditions with project designs.
Ability to read blueprints and other project related documents.
Configure pipe routes.
Align pipes in pipeline sections.
Dig trenches with trenching tools.
Slide pipe into trenches.
Insert spaces in between pipes.
Pull out defective or misaligned pipes.
Correct alignments.
Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications.
Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
Grade trenches or culverts.
Seal joints.
Use glue or welding equipment to ensure pipes are tightly fitted.
Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels.
Cover pipes with dirt or other material.
Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines.

may include cleaning and preparing a jobsite, loading and delivering materials; using different tools and machines, such as blowtorches; driving machinery; reading levels; operating lifts; and manning power drills grinders, saws, pressure washers, and other equipment.
Requirements- Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Have transportation. Willing to work independently as well as within team environment.
Previous commercial construction experience
Steel-toed boots required
