Forklift Operator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Forklift Operators report to the Yard Manager and are responsible for internal transport of products and materials throughout the warehouse. They are responsible for unloading materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stacking them in assigned places. They are also responsible to load materials into shipping containers. Working knowledge of forklift operation, electric pallet jack and other motorized load bearing equipment is a must. Must also be able to adhere to forklift operation standards and all safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Loading and unloading products from trailers using forklifts and other material handling equipment

Stores products in proper place within the warehouse and utilizes appropriate facility space.

Delivers products and materials to the appropriate workstation and area in a safe and efficient manner

Moves and loads factory waste products into the appropriate receptacle

Follows company standards and regulations, adheres to all forklift safety requirements

Demonstrate appropriate work skills, technical accuracy, efficiency and conformity to company policies.

Reports any faulty equipment, damage to racking, or other potential safety hazards

Meets with supervisor to determine daily and weekly work priorities and adjusts work activities accordingly.

Administers general preventative maintenance duties

May be required to perform other duties and functions or assist in other departments as needed depending on the needs of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience operating a forklift and other load bearing material handling equipment, prior forklift certification is preferred.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.

Valid drivers license with class E qualification.

Experience in operating a variety of hand tools and equipment.

Must actively participate as a member of the team and be willing to maintain high levels of productivity, occasionally sustaining longer working hours when necessary.

Must be able to work flexible hours and adapt to changing work requirements.

Attention to detail and established procedures, along with being well organized.

Must have solid math and computation skills. Standard Hours: 8:30AM-5:00 PM (Monday through Friday)

Note - May be required to work an occasional Saturday depending on production needs, hours may vary per shift and business needs.
