Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Facilities Assistant to join our team and provide support to our Superintendent in overseeing maintenance and operations across our diverse portfolio of properties. As a Facilities Assistant, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in property management while assisting with various tasks related to plumbing, HVAC, elevators, and light electrical work.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Superintendent in conducting routine maintenance inspections and addressing any issues that arise.
- Learn and develop skills in plumbing, HVAC systems, elevators, and light electrical work under the guidance of the Superintendent.
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks as directed, such as replacing light fixtures, unclogging drains, and adjusting thermostat settings.
- Assist with janitorial tasks, including cleaning common areas and restocking supplies as needed.
- Help coordinate and oversee contractors and service providers during maintenance and repair projects.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory levels.
- Assist with property inspections and prepare units for new tenants or guests as necessary.
- Provide general assistance and support to the Superintendent across various properties as needed.
Requirements:
- No prior experience required; willingness to learn and strong work ethic are essential.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment commonly used in maintenance and repair work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for maintenance emergencies or special projects.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between properties.
