X 5 DaysWHAT YOU’LL DOThe Strategy and Research Manager plays a key role in support of strategy and research efforts by providing independent thought leadership on emerging issues and evolving trends to support decision making that maximizes shareholder value and prudently manages risk. Assess the ever-changing business environment to inform and support strategies and ensure the success of the corporation’s long-term growth.Support the strategy planning and execute processes in support of the preparation and execution of the annual strategy refresh. Support and track progress of other initiatives including risk evaluations, performance metrics, scorecard goals, and other presentations to various stakeholders. Monitor industry trends and competitors, support analysis, perform research and reporting assignments independently, and provide support and updates to the Executive Leadership Team.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Strategy Execution and Reporting ProcessLead role in the Strategy Execution Reporting Process for the Peoples Gas strategic plan, decision analysis and strategic goals definition, initiative tracking and reporting, and alignment to Emera corporate strategy. This includes analysis and reporting of Strategy, Strategic Initiatives, Balanced Scorecard, and other metrics for the Leadership and the Board of Directors. Coordinate the completion of all materials for meetings with leadership including the ELT and for Board of Director meetings. Ensure an effective meeting cadence with ready materials to ensure a focus on strategy execution.Research, Analysis, and EngagementsMonitor and research industry, competitor, and trends in support the development of strategic scenarios, and support the timing and logistics of cross functional collaborative work within PGS and Emera in preparation of monthly research and market reports and provide updates to the ELT. Prepare analysis of key issues affecting the gas industry. Represent the company externally at industry conferences, community meetings, etc.Annual PGS Strategy Refresh ProcessSupport all activities related to the annual Strategy Refresh Process, a continuous cycle annual process. Work with the ELT Team to support the establishment of annual plans and assist with the scheduling of strategic planning sessions with the ELT and others and update and support the preparation and logistics necessary for the annual June strategy meeting with the Board of Directors.Communications and OtherCommunicate, promote awareness, and memorialize the strategy deliverables, industry, and market research, etc. through multiple channels including TECO 365, departmental meetings, and online communications, and others. Support other initiatives including enterprise risk evaluations, investor presentationsWhat We’re Looking ForMust Haves:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Engineering or related field.
6 years work experience with strategic analysis and competitor research, such ascollaborative strategy work, strategic trends analysis, and industry trends with a strong understanding of financial and business model. 4 years of energy or utility experience.
Strategic analysis, collaborative strategy work, trends analysis, industry, and competitor research, leadership of cross functional teams, initiatives, and projects. Strong project management or process improvement skills. Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills, data and financial analysis and visualization, including compilation of reports and presentation materials.
A solid understanding of strategic business strategies. Ability to anticipate how trends may impact organizational direction. Ability to work independently and in teams and the ability to collaborate at all levels across the organization. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong business and financial acumen. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and solid presentation skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) and SharePoint.
Nice-to-Haves:
Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
Related experience in a natural gas utility environment.
Experiencewith complex project management.
Demonstrated research capabilities and knowledge of the gas industry, policies, regulatory environment, and other industry trends.
Expert knowledge of PowerPoint.
