Description Robert Half is looking to find a talented, efficient Staff Accountant to join an esteemed organization. In the role of Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. In addition, you will look over schedules for the reporting processes, participate in compliance, and keep in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity is at a Tampa, Florida based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.Responsibilities
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments Requirements - Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Proficient in ERP systems
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Good understanding of fixed assets
Skills in Accounts Receivable (AR)
Foundational knowledge in month end closings
Year end closings experience
Financial Audits experience
Quality experience with general ledger
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Proven knowledge of journal entries
Well-founded grasp of Adjusting Journal Entries
Practical knowledge of account reconciliation
Earlier work involving bank statements
Previous experience working with Accounts Payable (AP)
Wide ranging experience with General Ledger System
General familiarity with Journal Entry
Comprehensive knowledge of QuickBooks
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Vow to meet business deadlines
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
