The Eye Care Specialty Rx Representative manages the sales efforts for the eye care specialty pharmaceutical portfolio within a sales territory, calling primarily on ophthalmologists, optometrists and key staff members within these practices. The Specialty Representative is responsible for maintaining and growing Rx volumes primarily in the private practice and community based clinic sectors. This position is a unique Specialty Sales opportunity to join AbbVie’s flagship business unit, AbbVie Eye Care with a 70 year heritage within eye care community. The position provides the opportunity to promote AbbVie’s market leading products for Glaucoma (Lumigan and Alphagan P) and Dry Eye (Refresh) to this unique specialty. The existing product portfolio is broad, differentiated and patent protected for many years. A strong mid to late stage development pipeline includes a number of promising, disruptive new technologies. Main Areas of Responsibilities The position requires a strong technical aptitude, advanced selling skills, analytical skills and account management expertise. Effectively selling the AbbVie eye care portfolio requires strong formulary pull through and prescription fulfillment via eRx and comprehensive staff education. Territory success is generated through a high degree of customer contact, exceptional clinical selling skills and a demonstrated proficiency and willingness to tactfully and skillfully hold customers accountable to commitments. Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree, biological sciences, pharmacy, business related field, or equivalent.

Requirements:

Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills.

Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders. Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities.

Proactively identifies customer style / behavior and quickly adapts to all aspects of selling approach. Understands and leverages findings to develop sales strategies.

Operates effectively in a matrix environment.

Offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities to address challenges.

Provides impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipates and responds to changes.

Influences others and is viewed as a credible and respected role model and resource among peers. Builds collaborative partnership with district colleagues and matrix team, etc.

Leads by example; Consistently displays positive behaviors and peer coaching through changing and challenging environments.

Documented success in leadership and support role of increased responsibility at the district, region and/or organizational levels.

Preferred: Proven track record of success in sales performance within respective therapeutic areas. Commercial pharmaceutical industry experiences such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing preferred. English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non-English speaking countries).

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Ophthalmology or Optometric sales background preferred

Customer knowledge with eye care specialists in local area preferred

Ability to travel adequately to cover territory, as well as overnight attendance at training meetings

Ability to drive a car and possess a valid and current driver’s license

Ability to lift 35 pounds

US Credentialing Requirement:

These HCIR credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases, fingerprinting and specific licenses required by individual state or cities.
