JOB SUMMARY: This is a Tax Auditor V position in the General Tax Administration Program, Refunds and Revenue Accounting Process. The incumbent conducts independent refund audits of one or more taxes and performs or assists with more complex audits of business entities for the various Florida taxes administered by the Department. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating work as well as processing, examining, analyzing, or interpreting accounting records or investigative financial information for the purposes of giving advice or preparing statements or reports for the Refund Sub-Process for various taxes administered by the Department of Revenue to ensure correct processing of refund claims. The incumbent is responsible for training auditors, including on-the-job training, and assisting in training sessions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.

Three years of professional auditing or accounting experience, with at least two of those years performing fuel tax audits within the General Tax Administration Program.

Two years of experience in banking, accounting, bookkeeping, or positions conducting financial-related transactions.

Experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two accounting courses can substitute for the required experience in banking, accounting, bookkeeping, or positions conducting financial-related transactions.

30 semester or 45 quarter hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two accounting courses can substitute for one year of the required experience in banking, accounting, bookkeeping, or positions conducting financial-related transactions.

A bookkeeping certificate can substitute for one year of the required experience in banking, accounting, bookkeeping, or positions conducting financial-related transactions.

PREFERENCES:

Experience performing fuel tax audits within the Refunds Process.

Experience with conducting on the job training.

Experience creating pivot tables in Microsoft Excel.

Experience using VLOOKUP in Microsoft Excel.

SALARY: The hiring salary generally will not exceed $5,407.42 monthly/$64,889.04 annually.
