JOB SUMMARY: This is a Professional Accountant position within the Office of Financial Management Payroll Section at the Department of Revenue in Tallahassee, FL. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of the salary overpayment and payroll exception process, including but not limited to; salary over-payments, on-demand salary payments, salary cancellations, salary refunds, and payroll journal transfers. The incumbent will also be responsible for assisting with processing and filing of monthly and annual state income tax payments and returns for out-of-state employees; assisting with processing retirement invoices, worker’s compensation adjustments, and tuition fee waiver adjustments: assisting with fiscal year-end activities as assigned; performing other related duties and special projects as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years of professional or non-professional accounting experience.

Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Experience with Microsoft Excel.

Experience with Microsoft Word.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or related area can substitute on a year for year basis for the required accounting experience; or any combination of experience and up to 60 semesters or 90 quarter hours of college education provided such education includes two courses in accounting; or possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate.

PREFERENCES:

Experience with FLAIR Payroll Module (PYRL)

Experience with People First as it relates to payroll.

Experience with Florida Retirement System Invoices

Experience in payroll, time and attendance, or other similar activities that include review and analysis of personnel transactions and data.

SPECIAL NOTES:

This position is located in Tallahassee, FL.

This position is not eligible for telework.
