The Public Access Services Office is a leader in innovative best practices to provide safe, sustainable, quality wildlife experiences and conservation opportunities to the public . This is an exciting opportunity to join our Planning & Design team! The Resiliency Coordinator assists the division and agency in responding to disasters with a primary focus on FWC’s wildlife management area system. This dynamic role will help the agency to recover from and protect against damages and mitigate for hazards. This is a full-time OPS position with a pay range of $25-$40 per hour depending on experience, with health benefits. It is located in Tallahassee, FL at the Russell Park Office Building. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Serve as part of an agency team working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Florida Department of Emergency Management.
Assess damages to facilities from severe weather and other disasters.
Perform a suite of project management functions including project scoping, compiling project related documentation, and project tracking.
Ensure that facilities have property numbers and/or are insured.
Submit public assistance requests and responds to requests for information as necessary.
Manage repair projects and insurance claims.
Assess the management area system ADA needs and resiliency efforts/standards.
Assist in assessing and developing facility safety and maintenance protocols.
Cooperation, communication, and teamwork are necessary skills for this position. Candidates must be highly proficient in written and verbal communication, use of automated systems, and research and analysis. The successful applicant will demonstrate self-direction and self-motivation, sound decision making, and the ability to create and maintain positive and respectful working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and partners.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience working with FEMA’s public assistance program and all applicable laws, regulations and policies, and mitigation options. Strong preference given to applicants proficient with FEMA and FDEM portals.
Highly organized and possess strong planning and process management skills.
Highly skilled and experienced working with Excel.
Able to assess damage, develop project scope and prepare cost estimates.
Experience in construction project design and management is preferred.
Able to establish productive working relationships with FWC staff and other agency personnel.
Able to communicate well with both field and senior staff.
Able to synthesize complex information and prepare and present status and other reports.
Position Requirements:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree preferred with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences or engineering and five years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health, one of the physical or natural sciences, or engineering. Engineering is preferred. Experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
This position is expected to work independently with limited supervision. A Monday through Friday, 8-hour daily work schedule during typical business hours is required, with a total of 1,920 hours worked per fiscal year. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and have the ability to travel an average of 25% and up to 50% seasonally.
Responsible for following the provisions and requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statutes, related to the Department of Financial Services rules and FWC's invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
