In accordance with the Florida Inspector General’s Act (Section 20.055, Florida Statutes), the Office of Inspector General (OIG) serves as a central point for coordination of and responsibility for activities that promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in the Office of Financial Regulation (OFR). The Office of Inspector General (OIG) conduct audits, investigations, and other accountability activities relating to the programs and operations of the agency. OFR a is professional office environment with a public service-driven mission. SPECIAL NOTES: Four (4) years of professional office experience in accounting or auditing isrequired. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience. Additional requirements:

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suites, including, but not limited to: Word and Excel (Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Skills and abilities must be demonstrated through prior work experience and/or training listed on the applicant’s resume.

A valid driver’s license .

Preferences:

A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or finance.

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Inspector General Auditor (CIGA), Certified Inspector General Investigator (CIGI).

Accounting experience.

Auditing experience.

Experience conducting administrative investigations.

Experience working with confidential or sensitive information.

This position may involve travel, which may be up to 25% of time worked.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position is authorized and requires the incumbent to obtain Criminal Justice Information (CJI). The incumbent will adhere to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Administrative Policies and Procedures 4-01 – CJIS Management Directive and Local Security Policy.

Successful applicant must pass a background screening, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.

All applicants seeking employment with the OFR are subject to mandatory background checks conducted through the Department of Financial Service (DFS), Bureau of Human Resource Management in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S. and reviews by OFR. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This sensitive position works with the Inspector General and Audit Director in performing the work of the Office of Inspector General, which often involves access to confidential information while carrying out job duties.

Assists with planning and conducting audits, management reviews, consultation engagements, and other accountability activities of programs, processes, information systems, internal controls, records, policies, procedures and OFR performance measures reviews in accordance with auditing standards, International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, published by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Assists with planning and conducting investigations, inquiries, and reviews of alleged violations of statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; and allegations related to employee conduct and personnel issues in accordance with the Principles and Standards for the Offices of Inspector General published by the Association of Inspectors General.

Responsible for data collection, often confidential data, in support of OIG activities and the proper handling and protection of the data. The incumbent is responsible for the independent analysis of data collected.

Responsible for performing independent research related to OIG projects, analysis of the information and presentation of the results. Research is often extensive and complex and requires significant attention to detail.

Assists OIG team members with coordinating with external entities, such as the Auditor General and Office of Program Policy and Governmental Accountability (OPPAGA), involved in performing audits and reviews of the agency.

Assists OIG team members in initiating, conducting, and completing the annual risk assessment process to prepare the required annual audit work plan.

Responsible for establishing, updating, and maintaining records related to the OIG’s accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA).

Assists in completion of components of the on-going internal quality assurance improvement program and the required report of the results.

Coordinates with OIG team members to assist in the periodic external quality assurance review performed by the Auditor General.

Exercises discretion and independent judgment in oversight of documentation maintained by the OIG.

Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and managing the retention schedule and related activities while ensuring compliance with public records requirements and laws.

Assists agency officials and staff, as needed.

Performs other related work, as required.
