The duties and responsibilities of this position include processing of applications and the examination and auditing of financial statements and records of regulated Continuing Care Retirement Communities which are licensed or applying for a license to operate in Florida to determine compliance with statutes and rules and for writing and compiling final reports of findings. The work also includes conducting meetings to discuss findings with company officials. The primary duties of this position are:
Performs financial reviews as well as routine and priority financial, compliance, operational and solvency analysis of continuing care retirement communities to determine compliance with the Florida Statutes and related rules and regulations.
Analysis of all annual, quarterly, monthly and special reports, schedules and exhibits of annual, quarterly, monthly and special statements as to financial condition and statistical compliance.
Assist with the evaluation of applicable residency agreements, real estate contracts, reserve calculations, management agreements, service agreements, escrow agreements and provider contracts, so as to ensure statutory compliance.
Compile statistical and general information reports based on these analyses. Writes reports based upon technical interpretation of statutes and industry data.
Advises, discusses and furnishes data and information regarding technical issues, problems and concerns to management and prepares a final written report of findings and discusses with management and company officials.
Formulates and submits written recommendations to supervisors based upon conclusions reached from review of the data and information submitted.
Conduct the investigation of industry practices utilized by regulated companies and review reports on the resultant financial consequences.
Develops, establishes, organizes and maintains files, forms, data and financial information on entities applying or regulated to ensure that all information submitted is accurate, reliable, understandable and easily retrievable.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of statutory terminology, accounting principles and Florida Insurance Laws and Regulations.
Consults with legal counsel, accountants, actuaries and auditors regarding interpretation of various documents.
Compiles evidence to be used in judicial or administrative proceedings and testifies when required.
Participates in professional development as required.
Assists in preparing for the annual Continuing Care Advisory Council meeting, including but not limited to, researching, analyzing and drafting a report and/or presentation to be presented at the annual meeting.
Assist in ensuring that all internal analysis policies and procedures are update to date and works with management on any necessary updates.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Working knowledge Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word applications.
Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
Ability to evaluate data for compliance with applicable statutes and regulations; Ability to analyze and interpret financial data; Ability to compile figures and prepare reports.
Ability to respond accurately under stress; Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
SPECIAL NOTES :
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business or risk management and insurance.
Applicants will be required to complete an exam or work sample to evaluate their insurance knowledge and skills in reading, comprehension, and application of the Florida Statutes.

The work hours for this position will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
This is a non-remote, on-site position located in Tallahassee, FL.
Employees of the Office of Insurance Regulation are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
