Salary: $44,060.11 - $55,899.41 Annual Range SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar in the Department’s reentry initiatives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the Department’s commitment to reentry efforts while maintaining a professional demeanor. The incumbent in this position is responsible for processing vendor invoices, distribution of warrants to vendors or assisting in the review of vendor invoices in compliance with Section 215.422, Florida Statutes. The incumbent in this position is expected to perform other duties as necessary. This is work developing, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating statewide programs of library and law library services in correctional institutions. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assists in administering a statewide system of institutional law library programs, to include reviewing the contents of legal collections to assure that major collection law libraries continue to comply with applicable court decisions, laws and rules. Conducting periodic reviews to determine whether new collections should be established, or whether existing legal collections should be upgraded, downgraded, moved, or disbanded. Developing annual budget requests for maintenance of the law library collections, initiating and monitoring all central office activities related to the ordering and receipt of research materials. Monitoring the inventories of institutional law library collections to ensure that they comply with the requirements of rule 33-501.301 “Law Libraries”. Reviewing institutional requests to add supplemental legal materials to their collections and maintaining regular contact with providers to secure new information on legal research materials and technologies or to resolve problems relating to the delivery or payment of legal materials.

Assists with the development and reviewing of the Department’s long-range plan for library service, including the development and implementation of goals related to online delivery and expansion of library programs. Assist with the development and reviewing of plans and proposals for staffing and funding of library programs and reviews plans and proposals for renovation or construction of library facilities.

Provides technical assistance and information on issues relating to general library services, law library services, and inmate access to admissible reading material to Regional Program Managers, Institution Staff, and Library Supervisors. Makes institutional visits to review and monitor general library and law library services program activities.

Conducts monitoring visits of general services library programs on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance with departmental rules and standards; provides technical assistance and advice to central office, region, and institutional administrators on issues relating to general library services.

Assists in the coordination of the activities of the Department’s Literature Review Committee as set forth in 33-501.401, Admissible Reading Materials.

Assist with the ongoing statewide training, testing, and certification of inmate law clerks at the institutional level.

Bachelor’s degree in library science or four years of equivalent experience working ina public, school or correctional institution library.

Willing and able to travel as required for this position.

Knowledge of correctional educational programming.
