This role focuses on projects directed by the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, and Chief of Staff, to support policy decisions that affect the Department. The primary responsibilities include supporting the data science team, analyzing business processes, and developing process automations for the Department. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather and document requirements for business analysis and automation projects.
Analyze business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for automation and develop process improvements.
Design, develop, test, and implement automation solutions using tools like Power Automate, ensuring they meet business requirements and improve efficiency.
Create and maintain documentation for automation solutions, including process flows, user guides, and training materials.
Perform data analysis to support business decisions, leveraging statistical and analytical tools.
Develop and deliver reports and dashboards using business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional team members and senior management. To convey requirements, plans, and project status.
Assist with the maintenance and ongoing support of automation solutions across the agency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of business analysis methodologies and tools.
Knowledge of business process modeling, data analysis, and evaluation techniques.
Experience with automation tools such as Power Automate, and a good understanding of robotic and analytic automations.
Proficiency with business intelligence and reporting tools like Power BI and Tableau.
Ability to collect, evaluate, and prioritize automation opportunities.
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively independently and in a group.
Ability to deliver quality work under tight timelines and shifting priorities.
Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience in business analysis, computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, business analytics, or a related field. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
Experience in business process analysis, automation, and process improvement.
Experience with automation tools such as Power Automate.
Proficiency with visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
Working knowledge of database systems and querying languages (e.g., SQL, etc.) to extract and manipulate data efficiently.
Understanding of statistical and analytical methods for data analysis.
