CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.

The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.

As a CANDIDATE, you may be required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

Must be able to pass a Department of Juvenile Justice Background screening/test.

Must have and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment.

NOTE

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University with a major in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field; OR

An Associate's Degree from an accredited College or University with major coursework in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field AND Two (2) years of professional experience in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field; OR

A High School Diploma AND Four (4) years of professional experience in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field

Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within two months of employment.

A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger “P” and School Bus “S” endorsements is a requirement for this position. (Applicants hired without a CDL License or required endorsements must obtain within 6 months of hire as a condition of employment. Failure to obtain the CDL with endorsements will result in termination of employment.)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Prior military with 3 to 5 years of experience in military supply and logistics or warehouse management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull.

Must be capable of climbing a ladder and using a hi-lift to 40 feet.

Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds or more.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Have an understanding on procurement, use, accountability, and disposition of equipment (i.e. Government Furnished, Federally Procured, State Procured, IKA (In Kind Assistance) and procured through donation); whether through IKA, Federal procurement, State procurement, any combination thereof or through donation.

Inventory of all property annually or whenever there is a change of the individual responsible for accounting and maintaining property record.

Maintain property Books containing a listing of all equipment by source (Federal Government Furnished and In-Kind Assistance (IKA), State, donation, non-consumable).

Maintains security, control and accountability of Academy property book and completes annual validation.

Acquires and distributes stock items based on customer need and usage trends (i.e. ordering for academy supplies, budget request).

Issues equipment and supplies for cadet and staff requirements (i.e. order Cadet and Staff uniforms).

Responsible for all Academy facilities, vehicles, equipment, and supplies and ensures accountability in accordance with both State and United States Property & Fiscal Office (USPFO) standards as provided in the Chief National Guard Bureau Manual (CNGBM) 9350.01 for Youth ChalleNGe.

Has primary oversight for a majority of the maintenance and/or repair of the 23 buildings and 26 acres of land which comprises the Academy grounds and coordinating with CBJTC as needed.

Performs regular inspection of all equipment, facilities, and vehicles to ensure adequate maintenance (i.e. supervise the upkeep and repairs of all academy vans and buses, accountable for all equipment used to maintain the academy).

Provides recommendations for repair, renovation, and/or replacement of vehicles of Academy facilities and/or vehicles.

Oversees repairs and maintenance of Academy facilities (i.e. inspection of all grounds, generators, equipment, and fire extinguishers), coordinated with in-house maintenance staff and /or outside maintenance vendors.

Plans workloads, workflows, deadlines, and time utilization with employees. Also trains and mentor employees on their work requirements to become efficient and effective.

Meets regularly with employees to ensure that all criteria are met and motivates them to improve the quality and quantity of work performance.

Directs the work of employees to ensure best use of time and resources.

Oversees the Setup of Intake, Family Day, and Graduation Banquet.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of policy guidance on logistics/readiness operations plans and procedures.

Knowledge of warehousing methods and practices.

Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures including buying, inspections, and shipping methods.

Knowledge of working with military-based (i.e. United States Property Fiscal Office) and other organization

Skill with excellent communication and ability to work with folks of different demographics.

Ability to work and manage youth with lawn maintenance.

Ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibility over others.

Ability to work cooperatively with State, Federal, and local organizations.

Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data.

Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

Ability to design and implement budgetary requirements.

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports.

Ability to identify operating problems, develop solutions, and monitor implementation of changes.

Ability to operate all lawn equipment and supervise the maintenance of the academy grounds.

Ability to prioritize academy needs versus wants and to communicate the academy needs in any meeting.

Ability to do manual labor that will require strength and endurance (i.e. off-loading trucks and delivery, do all laundry in between in each cycle).
