OVERVIEW The packaging supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of the packaging operations. The position is also responsible for enforcing safety, sanitations and GMP practices. The packaging supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of the hourly associates and line mechanics in a unionized work environment. DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervising hourly personnel in the packaging department on rotating shifts, including holiday and weekends.

Plan and schedule department work in an efficient manner. Utilize employees, equipment and material in order to produce quality products at standard rate.

Develop plans and organize work in a manner that support exceeding daily standard production rates while maintaining compliance with safety regulatory and quality standards.

Leading assigned teams in continuous improvement processes.

Work collaboratively with other functions internal and external to the plant to support effective operations.

Liaison with the maintenance team by reporting equipment issues resulting in downtime and assist with root cause analysis.

Ability to make quick decisions that support the plant goals.

Effective communication with front line employees and other packaging supervisors that supports and facilitates the development of effective teamwork.

Ability to identify problems on the packaging floor and resolve them as required.

Development of reports that supports analysis and problem resolution.

Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Four year Degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial/Electrical/Sciences/Technical area preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of Supervisory experience leading teams in an industrial setting.

Must be willing to work on rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bi-lingual English/Spanish desired.

Demonstrate ability to lead, train and motivate employees.

Dependable team player.

Experience with high speed packaging equipment desired.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook MS Office skills required.
