Position Summary:

The RCP Hill Man works at ground level (the "hill") to support the trench crew during the installation of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) systems for stormwater, sewer, or drainage projects. The Hill Man is responsible for preparing pipe and materials, rigging and signaling for equipment operators, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are safely and efficiently delivered to the pipe layer and tail man in the trench. This role requires strong coordination, communication, and safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

Rig and signal equipment operators to safely lower RCP pipe and fittings into the trench.

Inspect pipe and fittings before installation; clean, prep, and stage materials for easy access.

Coordinate with the pipe layer and tail man to ensure the correct pipe sequence and placement.

Load, unload, and move materials using hand tools or equipment.

Apply lubricant, gaskets, or other materials to pipes prior to installation.

Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe job site.

Monitor trench conditions and help enforce trench safety procedures.

Communicate clearly with the crew below and the equipment operator to prevent accidents and delays.

Assist in backfilling and surface restoration when required.

Qualifications:

1+ year of construction or underground utility experience preferred.

Familiarity with RCP and trench work operations.

Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions.

Knowledge of basic rigging and hand signals for heavy equipment.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to lift 50–100 lbs and work around heavy machinery.
