The School Counselor/School Mental Health Worker providescounseling to students in need of counseling and/or support with their mentalhealth needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides necessary counseling as required for the studentand/or as outlined in the student’s IHP
Evaluates the students’ psychosocial needs, and evaluatesthe progress
Collaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate goalsfor each student
Implements and manages school guidance programs
Utilizes a variety of therapy techniques and treatmentplans
Works with students in individual, small group and/orclassroom settings
Facilitates student learning involving life skills,organization techniques and time management
Assists students with creating an academic plan for theireducation
Adheres to Amergis and District policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
Licensing/Certification according to state/facility/contractrequirement
The Counselor may be required to have an Associate’s Degree,Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Psychology, Addictions, Sociology, Social Work,Counseling, Nursing, or some other Human Development major per state, contract and/or facility guidelines.
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and fromappropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Requirements:
-School counselor, guidance, guidance and counseling - FLDOE
-Master’s degree
-Pediatric/ schools experience
