Description Legal Assistants support lawyers directly, and may be required to supervise other legal staff such as legal secretaries or file clerks.The ideal Legal Assistant will have sound technical and computer knowledge as well as excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.Three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department may be preferred.Your responsibilities

Govern matter management and record keeping

Amass documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals

Cross-reference copies and originals to confirm both are proper

Carry out legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed

Cache e-documents and files

Stay on top of word processing, filing and faxing

Lead the maintenance of computer database input and retrieval

Form correspondence and memorandum

Photocopy/scan documents

Look through a variety of court and agency web sites and collect relevant content Requirements - 3+ years of previous legal work experience and a dedication to integrity

Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents

Conducting routine discovery

Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information

Trial preparation experience

Adeptness in data entry

Command of e-Filing

Experience with Discovery

Deep understanding of Commercial Litigation

E-file experience

Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions

Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
