As our Athletic Field Maintenance Worker, you'd be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of athletic fields and adjunct facilities, performing a variety of tasks including field turf restoration, minor equipment repairs, and event/game day preparation. In this role you will be working to ensure safe and playable athletic facilities. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service to patrons of the facilities, standing as a representative of Sarasota County and, under direct supervision, you'd serve as a member of the athletics team performing light to heavy physical labor. The pay starts at $17.33/hr (Step 1), benefits begin within 60 days of hire, and there are countless opportunities for both growth and advancement. Perform daily general maintenance and upkeep of athletic fields and adjunct facilities.

Provide polite, friendly and accurate customer service.

Ensure safe playable surfaces including maintaining infield skin, infield lips, baselines, warning tracks, pitching mounds and home plate areas. This can include regular dragging, screen dragging, watering, mowing, edging, and trimming.

Paint and mark fields, sets bases and pitching mounds under applicable rules and specified dimensions.

Set-up and clean up facilities for practices, games, tournaments and events.

Perform general ground maintenance, repair and janitorial duties of fields, fencing, common areas, amenities, parking lots and other areas.

Conduct park patrols and general inspections of athletic facilities to ensure the safety of the public.

Report potential safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisor for follow up as necessary.

Contribute to the decision making process on the feasibility of playing on field depending upon weather and field conditions.

Exercise a high degree of initiative and decision making to ensure customer satisfaction.

Work Hours:

Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

About YouMinimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or an equivalent education.

One year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscape, athletic fields, or other similar grounds.

Valid Florida Driver's License by start date.

Ability to obtain First Aid CPR/AED certification within six (6) months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with small tools and lightweight maintenance equipment.

Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with mechanical assistance or teamwork to load materials. Examples can include, but are not limited to, fertilizer bags and other materials used in the maintenance of athletic fields, at various points throughout the year.Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.About Everything Else Starting Pay Range : $17.33/hr (Step 1)Benefits:
