NewGate School seeks a Spanish teacher to join our faculty for the 2024-2025 school year teaching middle school and high school Spanish, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.
NewGate School is a private school serving ages 12 months through high school with two campuses in beautiful Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch, Florida. NewGate School focuses on centering student voices and participation in the daily experience, using Montessori pedagogy and project-based engagement.
Candidates must be fluent in (preferably native) Spanish and be able to teach speaking, listening, writing, and reading from beginner Spanish through the IB Diploma Program courses. Our program also depends on teachers who are sensitive to the developmental stage of adolescence and ready to participate on a joyful, hard-working, and dedicated team that sees teenagers as capable, creative, and wonderful people.
Candidates should be strong, confident, and practiced educators who plan diligently and are skilled in creative responses to support a variety of learners in a Montessori, college-prep, International Baccalaureate program. We are looking for energetic colleagues who love their discipline, are collaborative self-starters, and hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Responsibilities
Create a joyful and engaging language learning environment for students at all levels of learning from beginner through fluency
Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze student work, and prescribe actions for ongoing improvement
Develop and implement engaging and curriculum-aligned experiences
Implement differentiated instructional strategies to ensure all students can access and master concepts
Demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of subject matter content and expertise in helping students build skills and capacity
Collaborate as a kind and supportive teammate willing to contribute broadly to the school’s success with an ownership mentality
Excited to build partnerships with families in support of student success
Some overnight travel (school trips)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Humility in working with teenagers
Strength as a collaborative teammate on our small secondary teaching team
Adaptability to work in a dynamic and responsive college prep learning community
Exceptional verbal and written skills that show compassion and emotional intelligence with colleagues, students, and parents
Ability to work on-site in Sarasota, Florida. Relocate before starting work (required)
Job Type and Location: Full-time (M-F), on-site, in-person in Lakewood Ranch, FL
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
