This role will provide tactical management of all day-to-day talent focus areas, including recruitment, performance management, development, compensation and succession planning. This role is the lead contact for HR in the Virginia Market. They provide input on both interpreting company-wide policies and local guidelines and contribute to the development of our company-wide framework with an expert regional perspective. Your Key DeliverablesEmployee Relations and Performance Management:

Collaborate and coach managers and employees to effectively manage performance management and employee relations issues.

Assist with Performance Reviews and other HR development processes.

Travel to local field sites regularly to enhance relationships and support levels when applicable.

Actively visible and accessible to division managers in an operating and advisory setting.

Enable an Exceptional Employee Experience:

Positively influence the employee experience by partnering with People Leaders to ensure moments of importance and value are recognized.

Continuously enhance and improve the employee experience through effective management of workplace conflicts.

Provide local support on the coordination and delivery of any employee, leadership, or management development training programs. May coordinate and deliver specialized training in such areas as: recruitment, performance management, team building and mentoring.

Communicate to team members to provide accurate, timely updates and maintenance of employee benefits and retirement plan (i.e., new hires, terminations, open enrollment, and miscellaneous changes).

Learning and Development:

Assist with the development, design, organization, and implementation of programs that will drive increased employee satisfaction and commitment levels (i.e., Employee Referral Program, Employee Recognition Program, Onboarding, New Team Member Orientation, Manager Orientation )

Assist with the creation of training material and designing supplementary documents, manuals, workbooks, and presentations.

Assist with facilitating and delivering employee and leadership training programs as well as regular coordination with other facilitators and internal subject matter experts in such areas as: recruitment, performance management, respect in the workplace, and team building.

Recruiting and Onboarding:

Work with the business leaders to execute full cycle recruitment activities, providing expertise on sourcing, interviewing, employment and background checks, testing, offers, and onboarding.

Function as Brookfield’s primary contact point with candidates and new hires to assist them with inquiries and orientation process.

Contribute strategic ideas regarding sourcing candidates, marketing, and assessment tools.

Support initiatives and develop relationships with professional & trades associations, campus and industry organizations to source exceptional candidates.

Evaluate these programs and make recommendations for improvement,

Monitor recruitment process to ensure optimal hiring decisions are made, including use of candidate discussion/scoring matrix and facilitate decision making discussion with hiring teams.

Develop and recommend recruitment procedural improvements.

Help coordinate Summer internship program.

Payroll, Compliance, Process Efficiency:

Consult with payroll on a timely basis to ensure processes and systems are accurate and effective.

Ensure labor law compliance and maintain team member files to ensure compliance.

Collaborate with the People & Culture team to continuously create and improve procedures and processes for People operations optimization.

Update and maintain People information in HRIS system and on Brookfield Residential intranet.

Create reporting as needed.

Participate on select cross functional or company-wide committee(s).

Must Haves

3-5 years of progressive HR/Business experience demonstrating knowledge of talent development, recruitment strategy, performance management, and compensation.

Undergraduate degree in business or related discipline.

Solid working knowledge of related employment regulations and legislation.

Ability to influence without authority.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with primary client groups virtually and in-person.

Strong business acumen.

Demonstrate customer service orientation.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Demonstrated project management, organizational and exceptional time management skills.

Proven leadership and teamwork.

Proficient in full Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Proficiency with Workday is an asset.
