Our purpose-driven ethos provides team members with opportunities to contribute, develop, and belong.The Manager, Commercial Package Underwriting provides Underwriting and Operations workflow expertise and program management skills to drive initiatives that promote efficiency, drive production and ensure compliance with operating policies for the Commercial Package Line of Business, including property, general liability, inland marine, auto and umbrella/excess .ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPromotes the strategy and growth of Commercial Package Underwriting Line of Business by providing expertise and guidance to leadership.
Contributes to the development and modification of department goals, plans, procedures, and guidelines.
Sustains a sales culture that consistently delivers on brand and product value proposition by producing reports, providing training and monitoring production.
Collaborates with Branch Managers in the training and development of Branch Team Members.
Acts as subject matter expert (SME) in Commercial LOB's.
Leverage understanding of commercial lines workflow and collaborate with technology on builds, including the development of our UW management and policy administration systems and other various technology initiatives.
Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the underwriting discipline to internal organizational stakeholders as well as insureds, agents and customers.
Facilitates and conducts Branch underwriting audits to monitor the quality of the book of business.
Communicates timely information to appropriate department partners on industry, legal and financial changes including ISO/DOI rulings, forms and coverage changes, competition, policy issuance and state filings.
Provides workflow expertise for applications and automation.
Manages programs driving line of business profitability and initiatives.
Develops and/or facilitates new products, programs or offerings.
Creates key performance indicators for new markets and/or improving sales.
Reviews and analyzes the underwriting portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis role has no supervisory responsibilities but may mentor and/or train junior team members.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required minimum 3 - 5 years of related experience in commercial property, general liability, inland marine, auto and umbrella/excess underwriting, preferably 5 yrs.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required in Business, Accounting, Statistics or related field. Additional experience may be required in lieu of degree.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSNone required.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of Commercial property, general liability, inland marine, auto and umbrella/excess coverage.
Understanding of automated workflows.
Strong knowledge of insurance underwriting concepts and principles.
Ability to build strong business relationships with internal and external customers.
Strong work knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Critical thinking skills, detail-orientation, and ability to problem solve.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience working with cross-functional teams.
Excellent public and internal communication skills. Proficiency in insurance systems and customer relationship management systems.
