Accounts Receivable SpecialistJob DescriptionThis Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a critical role in managing both collections and cash application processes. This position ensures that outstanding debts are collected in a timely manner while also accurately applying cash transactions to customer accounts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable interacting with customers regarding overdue accounts and will possess strong organizational skills to ensure the correct application of payments across multiple payment methods.Collections: Monitor and analyze accounts receivable to identify overdue payments and delinquent accounts. Contact customers via email and phone to collect overdue amounts and negotiate repayment terms. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer contacts and collections efforts. Plan and execute all collection activities, including follow-ups and escalations when necessary. Advise customers on payment options and provide exceptional customer service in addressing inquiries and resolving disputes. Process payments via phone related to collection efforts. Collaborate with team members to resolve account discrepancies. Submit regular reports to management on the status of unpaid accounts. Support and monitor JIRA tickets related to collections.Cash Applications: Receive and record all cash transactions, including checks, ACH, and credit cards. Apply daily unapplied payments to customer accounts. Reconcile accounts to identify discrepancies before applying payments. Prepare and reformat payment files and upload them into the system. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or variances in cash transactions. Process credit memos, chargebacks, and refunds as needed. Monitor and resolve pending payment exceptions and ensure timely follow-up. Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to address cash-related issues. Provide support on JIRA tickets related to cash applications.Skills and Qualifications Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Minimum two years of experience in collections, cash applications, or related fields. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and maintain a customer-focused approach. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (V-lookups and Pivot Tables), and other relevant accounting software. Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills for resolving discrepancies. Time management skills to balance collections and cash application responsibilities.
