If so, join our team where we value your inspiration!The Bay Correctional Facility located in Panama City, FL., is now hiring a Canine InstructorPosition Summary:Canine supervisor is responsible for overseeing MTC’s inmate-lead canine training program. This includes the health and maintenance of each canine, along with the supervision of participants and their daily training duties. Provide inmates with basic direction in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Correctional Education Association (CEA), Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.Essential Functions:

Oversee all daily training activities

Coordinates formal training with outside professional trainer(s)

Maintains participation and community service hours

Reports and documents activity and/or events in ODS

Plans activities that meet program objectives

This position requires long periods of standing and walking.

Regularly involves lifting, bending, or other physical exertion.

Ensures participants are using only approved curriculum materials

Reports to partnering agencies involved with program (e.g., behavior and progress of canines)

Orders food and supplies involved in program

Reports directly to the Deputy Warden of Programs, reporting all key indications of program success, barriers, individual student needs, and budgetary requirements

Interacts with community partners

Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property: adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.Education and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years’ experience with canine handling and training preferred. Valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.Must be able to travel; transporting canines from facility to training centers.Post Hire Requirements:Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
