Job Summary
The primary responsibility is to deliver high-quality installation services of blinds, shades, shutters, drapes, awnings, and retractable screens for all customers, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and with a strong commitment to customer service. This includes setting a positive example in both workmanship and attitude toward clients and colleagues. Other key tasks involve managing installation schedules, working collaboratively with the office administrator to resolve issues, and maintaining all company tools, vehicles, and storage spaces. Team members are also expected to share constructive feedback with the sales and administration teams to help improve the efficiency of one-stop installations.
Major Job Duties and Functions
1. Morning of Installation
· Arrive early, ready to work, and with a positive outlook.
· Dress in clean, company-branded attire.
· Bring suitable indoor and outdoor footwear.
· Sign in on the timesheet.
· Review all paperwork for the day, including notes from administrative and sales teams.
· Confirm any payment collection details before departing the office.
· Load all required tools, ladders, and products into the vehicle.
· Organize the morning to ensure timely arrival at the first appointment.
· Lead Installer: Assist team members in preparing schedules and ensuring proper attire.
2. En Route to Destinations
· Notify customers if running more than 15 minutes late.
· Drive company vehicles carefully and courteously.
3. At the Customer Site
· Arrive punctually and introduce yourself in a professional manner.
· Maintain a clean appearance and wear appropriate footwear indoors and outdoors.
· For larger projects, conduct a walkthrough and confirm installation areas with the customer.
· Review project details and timeline with the customer.
· Work efficiently, and communicate if you’ll be delayed for the next appointment.
· Never compromise on quality by rushing installations.
· Clean up thoroughly, removing all packaging and debris from the site.
· Demonstrate product usage to the customer and confirm their satisfaction.
· Collect any outstanding balance due.
· Take photos of the completed work and send them to the office before leaving.
· Upsell additional products, such as mentioning outdoor solutions if installing indoor products, and vice versa.
· Report any deficiencies or issues to the office before leaving the site.
· Document detailed notes about any problems or follow-up required.
4. End of Day
· Empty all debris from trucks each night.
· Return all paperwork and collected checks to the office.
· Review the day’s projects and any deficiencies with the office coordinator.
· Prepare for the next day’s installations.
· Keep storage areas organized and clean.
5. Truck and Tool Care
· Keep company vehicles clean and fully stocked.
· Monitor and report maintenance needs promptly.
· Be ready for regular inspections of trucks and tools.
6. Office & Warehouse Responsibilities
· Check in and organize all product deliveries.
· Label boxes clearly with customer names.
· Complete paperwork, and software data as required to close sales
· Contact customers to schedule installs within one day of the order arriving
· Assist with general office upkeep and cooperate with team members.
· Prep orders by opening packages, checking for parts and prepping for install day.
7. Communication & Teamwork
· Maintain open, proactive communication with all staff.
· Collaborate with others to achieve company goals and provide excellent customer service.
Performance Expectations
· Consistently provide high-quality installations and customer service.
· Contribute to fostering a positive reputation for Blinds & Shutters by Discount Mike.
· Actively participate in process improvements and collaborative teamwork.
Evaluation
Evaluations will be conducted by the Lead Installer and management, focusing on customer feedback, timely project completion, teamwork, and the care of tools and vehicles.
Skills & Background Needed
· Valid Drivers License with safe driving record
· Experience installing blinds, shades, shutters, drapes, awnings, and screens.
· Pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail
· Punctuality
· Familiarity with tools and basic construction concepts
· Problem-solving ability, creative thinking, and teamwork skills
· Competence in driving large vehicles and using ladders and power tools
