Job Description
Job Title: Landscaping Foreman (Service)
Craft: Service
Reports to: Superintendent
Exempt Status: Hourly (non-exempt)
Position Objective/Description:
In addition to hands-on participation, provides direct supervision and coordination for various landscape installations, lawn maintenance, irrigation inspections, lawn inspections, meetings with clients, and coordination of projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Document, plan, and perform work activities independently.
Operate a variety of lawn equipment, as needed.
Driving company vehicles to job sites.
Irrigation inspections and repairs.
Consult with managers or other personnel to receive directions for crew and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, resolving problems, and coordinating project sites to verify that company workmanship and client-required safety protocols are being complied with.
Conduct regular tailgate safety meetings.
Order and inspect required equipment based on project specifications.
Report to the Superintendent on work progress, time, materials, and problems
Conduct safety program orientation/indoctrination and ensure safety compliance
Provide job site leadership, instruction, training, discipline, and conflict resolution
Coordinate with management, subcontractors, and others to maintain compliance with contract specifications, client requirements, and project profit
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to read and understand landscape drawings/designs.
Able to run a variety of landscaping machines and equipment
Efficient at multitasking and working under the pressure of time constraints
Experienced in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, safety management, quality control, and budgeting of operations in both residential and commercial settings.
Strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
Demonstrate a safety-first attitude with strict adherence to safety policies and procedures.
Strong leadership ability, motivation, and supervisory skills: assigning, directing, and inspecting work, rewarding or disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving conflicts
Physical Demands:
Constant physical effort, including extended standing for at least an 8-hour shift
Intermittent walking and standing on projects.
Climb intermittently
Regularly twist, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to perform duties
Regularly reach above shoulder level
Regularly push/pull objects
Must be physically able to repetitively lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, and sometimes heavier weight.
Agility, balance, and manual dexterity, as well as arm-hand steadiness
Able to hear and respond to oral instructions in a noisy environment.
Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach and grasp with hands and arms.
Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
Good vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Education / Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
1-3 years of experience working as a Service Foreman
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Work Environment:
Regularly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity, and is exposed to uneven surfaces and natural terrain. Frequently works near moving mechanical machinery, and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
