This role involves assisting with budgeting, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, and client communications while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and industry regulations.The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a key role in tracking project progress, processing documentation, and supporting field operations. This position offers excellent growth opportunities for individuals looking to advance into a Project Manager role.ResponsibilitiesProject Management & Execution

Assist in managing day-to-day construction activities for substation projects.

Help develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones.

Support the preparation of substation bid packages and coordinate the bid process.

Work with the Project Manager to monitor cost budgets, cash flow projections, and cost exposure reports.

Attend project meetings to track action items, deliverables, and scheduling updates.

Support the subcontractor selection process and manage documentation for contracts and agreements.

Any other duties as assigned by Management.

Estimating & Procurement

Assist in preparing cost estimates (labor and materials) for substation projects.

Conduct field take-offs/evaluations for estimating purposes.

Assist in the preparation of bills of material and purchase orders for project supplies.

Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting

Process and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.

Assist in preparing and distributing weekly/monthly project reports and billing information.

Maintain accurate records of contract documents, schedules, and progress reports.

Support the Project Manager in client and internal reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.

Safety, Quality, & Compliance

Conduct site visits to assist with field inspections, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.

Work with safety teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E standards.

Monitor and report on field productivity, labor hours, and material usage.

Assist in managing project closeout and warranty documentation.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

2+ years of project management experience in the electrical utility industry.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience working with substation EPC or design-build projects preferred.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Basic knowledge of estimating software or the process through Excel.

Basic knowledge with Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling is a plus.

Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E) is preferred.

Soft Skills & Abilities

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, working effectively with project managers, field teams, and clients. Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Education & Experience
