Our products include both optical and RF systems as well as sophisticated image processing & visualization systems. Photonics Ops South has a team of highly experienced engineers, scientists, & technicians who work in tight-knit groups on state-of-the-art projects. This positions requires you to work 100% on-site.More About the Role:

The software/optical engineering intern will be part of the Orlando, Florida Manufacturing Operations and Engineering Team; they will gain experience on highly technical revolutionary optical products that utilizes photonic principals to serve the national interests of the United States

This role will be responsible for utilization of optical equipment, optical test and execution, GUI software, and product verification testing

Including projects related to optical process and performance, verification test software, and final system environmental and acceptance testing in an SDA regulated environment

This role will receive technical guidance and mentorship from the different CACI Orlando, FL engineering groups that support the operational progression of the product lines focusing on software and optics

The software/optical engineering internship will help establish foundations for the selected applicant in space-flight production learning about ISO 9000 compliancy and other industry best practice standards

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Must currently be enrolled in High School OR a full-time Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate Student

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance

Experience working in a fast pace exciting team environment

Curiosity for how things work, and drive to learn more

Hands-on or theoretical experience with optics and lasers

Understanding of computers and software capabilities

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

If Undergraduate or Graduate, pursing a degree in or related field; Photonics, Software/Computer Science, Electromechanics is preferred, not required

Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred, not required

Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership and teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)

Previous experience working with optical systems and testing output

Experience with software systems (Python, C #, SQL)

Experience working in aerospace manufacturing.
