Also responsible for monitoring departmental budgets, costs, and materials by project. The position follows an in-person schedule working full-time in-office and/or show site based out of Orlando, FL.Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage the carpentry team including performance appraisals, hiring, firing, and merit increases.

Manage the carpentry of all types of shop materials to produce orders including graded lumber, plywood, PVC, and acrylic like materials.

Communicate with Sales, Exhibitor Sales, and other department heads on work orders.

Price out materials and labor accurately when requested for project bids and estimates.

Hold safety meetings to ensure that all equipment meets OSHA safety requirements, and all team members operate machinery safely.

Meet deadlines on all in-housework tickets, utilizing as much straight time as possible.

Coordinate with Operations Manager to purchase bulk material and keep shop adequately stocked for busy schedules.

Look for new materials that can reduce costs.

Ensure that projects are running smoothly, using least amount of material and labor with minimal mistakes.

Examine blueprints, shop drawings, and details to determine dimensions of structure.

Determine sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structures.

Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.

Implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Coordinate schedule with paint shop and graphics shop as needed.

Delegate work to outside subcontractors when needed due to workload.

Meet all production deadlines on time or before due dates.

Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities (depending on location):

May manage the paint shop, welding, textiles, routers.

Ensure the proper use and maintenance of the welding machine & cutting torch.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of all types of painting and spray equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Perform job-costing analysis.

Dependable, self-motivated, detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Attention to detail for carpentry and custom project work

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Manage a fast-paced team due to high volume of production orders and short lead notices.

Experienced using power tools and wood working machinery

Read and understand shop details, drawings, and prints.

Working knowledge of acrylics/acrylic construction and plastic laminates.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade School experience is preferred.

Five years carpentry shop experience plus Five or more years of supervisory experience preferred.

Must have a good working knowledge of all carpenter and paint shop equipment (C&C Router, Beam Saw, UV inks and UV Dryer).
